Camera not showing in OBS

Check that HDMI cable is secure on both ends and and the camera is powered on. Restart OBS. If you’re still having issues, restart the computer.

OBS freezes or crashes
Ensure that no apps other than OBS and Epic Pen are running. Reboot the laptop
Stream Deck/controller not responding
Check USB cable.
What do the lights on the capture card mean
  • Blue light means it’s connected to the camera.
  • White light means it’s not connected to the camera.
  • Red light means the camera signal was lost.
If all else fails and it’s still not working
Unplug and replug all video and power connections. Restart laptop.

Basic Usage

How to Startup Simple Replays

  1. Ensure that all cables are connected and properly seated.
  2. Ensure that power strip and camera are powered on.
  3. Turn on laptop.
  4. Launch the OBS and Epic Pen applications.
  5. Right click the video preview window in the OBS software and click Full-screen Projector and select your monitor. Press ESC if you want to leave full screen.
  6. Click Live and Replay buttons to confirm they are recording and switching.

How to Use Instant Replays
Start in LIVE mode and record your athlete. When you see something you want to fix, press the Instant Replay button to enable pause, slow-mo and frame-by-frame playback controls. Make sure to press the LIVE button when you’re finished to continue recording.

How to Annotate
While you’re in Instant Replay mode press the Annotate button to draw lines, circles, squares and change colors. Press Clear Screen when you’re done.

How to Record Clips & Screen Captures
At any time you can press the Record button to record video and Screen Capture will take a full screen screenshot. Recordings typically will save to the system Video folder on the computer.

Setup Instructions

  1. Plugin in and turn on power strip
  2. Mount the camera on the tripod
  3. Connect HDMI cable to the camera
  4. Connect power cable to the camera
  5. Connect HDMI IN on the capture card
  6. Connect power cable to power supply
  7. Connect USB capture card to laptop
  8. Connect USB controller to laptop
  9. Optional: Connect external monitor

Best Practices

To ensure consistent operation of Simple Replays, please avoid the following:

  • DO NOT make setting changes if you are having problems.
  • DO NOT overload the laptop with other programs.
  • DO NOT leave cables loose or create trip hazards.
  • DO NOT lay heavy objects on cables.
